Lost & Found: Veteran's Medals Discovered at Rose Haven Nursing Center
The Roseburg News-Review, May 25, 2009
The nursing home room had been deserted for years. The storage cabinet that nearly touched the ceiling of the room had been empty for just as long.
Or so everyone assumed.
But tucked in the back corner of the cabinet was a small box that had been overlooked for nearly two decades. Inside were three picture frames that displayed the war achievements of Charles "Chuck" Owens, who died in January 1990.

Against Doctor's Orders
Woodburn Independent Newspaper, January 13, 2009
Woodburn, Ore -- After multiple hospitalizations and a bed sore the size of a fist, Joyceann White’s doctors didn’t give her a chance, but she says God had a different plan.
“The Lord is the one leading me,” the 72-year-old said Dec. 5, sitting in her wheelchair at French Prairie Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Woodburn. “He’s the one who’s going to see me through this.”
Two years ago, Joyceann would not have been able to say this.
Two years ago, Joyceann was unresponsive to her family as she slipped further and further away from reality as debilitating depression overtook her mind and body. Multiple physical setbacks, coupled with her husband’s battles with dementia and obsessive compulsive disorder had slowly crippled this vibrant woman, who was reduced to a malnourished whisper of who she used to be, curled up in a hospital bed.
